But before that, I had this amazing veggie slice at Pier 49 Pizza on Main Street
So, backstage in a theater, when a stage curtain goes up or down, it's done with a series of pulleys. So just off stage, there is a weight or a bag of sand that goes up or down corresponding to the curtain. Usually the crew will put a tape square on the floor directly under the weight to make sure no one is standing there when it comes down, because if it hits you, that is bad news. Two nights ago, the tape square hadn't been laid down yet, and I kept ending up right in the path of the weight, like an idiot. So last night, they put down the square and here's what it says
I was sure it was going to say, "especially Jessica, you idiot."
Last night was the first time I had seen much of Act 1, so I got lots of photos and a couple of videos, which are posted below. First is Papageno saving Pamina from Monostatos
Then Papageno and Pamina talk on the phone across the cavern
The Three Spirits guide Tamino (see the videos in the post below, they are great!)
Temple columns
The Speaker tells Tamino that he is not yet worthy to enter the Temple
Later, Tamino uses the Magic Flute to charm animals
The first entrance of Sarastro in his temple with his disciples
