We're in the Capitol Theater!

Omigosh, you guys, the set looks amazing! It was originally designed for a show called
"The Dreamcatchers," I believe, and it's supposed to look like Moab. And it feels like hiking at Moab.

It will take some getting used to, and I would happy to just have some time where we get to run around on it. We got that yesterday, and it was hugely useful, but we need more more more! In case you don't know, this is a raked stage, which means it's at an angle to the actual stage. So at the front of the stage, you are a few inches above the floor, and at the back of the stage, you are about 20 feet up. When you walk upstage, you are walking up a hill. Here's how it looks on the stage. This first one is about mid-stage, looking down into the ravine. You can see where the floor meets the rocky stage.

And here is are views looking across the stage, so you can see the steepness.

The challenge for The Three Ladies is that we swoop around a lot, and should look pretty graceful, as if we're floating on and off. And sometimes we need to move pretty fast. I need to channel my inner gazelle. Oh, and of course, we're wearing the famous veils...

So, the Queen of the Night comes in on a flying camel. I had a bit of a hard time getting a good shot, but here is what I was able to get.

Pretty cool! Today is another rehearsal of getting to know the stage, doing a quick run-through, point to point, to discover what works, what needs adjustment. We are SO glad to be in the theater so early. Sometimes a show is not able to do that, if the theater is running another show, or the stage is not ready for some other reason.

One final thing that I love about getting into the theater  - -
